Zagreb is a city with many faces and on this tour you get to see all of them – from a bustling historical city centre, socialistic neighbourhoods, river Sava and lake Bundek all the way to the top of protected nature park Medvednica just half an hour from the centre where tourists are more rare than some endangered animal spices that can occasionally be seen in the park.

Second day of our adventure we will discover  the untouched nature of river Mrežnica and relax in Rastoke watermill village.

First day is reserved for cycling, second for kayaking and third day we go hiking.

All activities require easy to moderate fitness level therefore are suitable for everyone (children min 12 years old).

Itineraries

Day 1

Discover Zagreb by Bike

Best way to start our three day adventure is by exploring Zagreb in a company of professional English speaking guide.To make things interesting we will do it on two weels and see how locals move around the city.With half day bike tour of Zagreb you will learn medieval stories of the Upper Town and admire historicist architecture of Zagreb Green Horseshoe in the Lower Town. Passing through historical streets, monumental squares and romantic parks you will see some of the most famous Zagreb monuments – Zagreb Cathedral, St. Mark Church, Parlament Building, National Theatre and more.After you learn where locals buy their food, what is the best place for people-watching with good meal or cup coffee and where is the best nightlife in Zagreb it's time to see where locals live.Unlike many other Zagreb sightseeing tours, we will go beyond historical city centre to discover post-war communism architecture. Crossing river Sava will unravel you completely different side of Zagreb with some of the best examples of socialist architecture and urban planning in general.

Day 2

Kayaking on Mrežnica River & Visit to Rastoke Watermill Village

In the morning hours we will pick you up at your accommodation and start a pleasant drive south.After around one hour drive we reach Mrežnica, 63 kilometer long river with a large number of waterfalls, 93 to be exact. Its transparent water and untouched nature is what makes it a popular day trip destination for locals as well as tourists.After 3-4 hour kayaking tour on Mrežnica river we will have a short drive to Rastoke, a preserved historical village built on the bank of Slunjčica river.Before our return to Zagreb it is possible to arrange lunch in one of the traditional local restaurants.

Day 3

Hiking on Medvednica Mountain

Just half an hour from Zagreb city centre locals go to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful views of the city. We will follow their steps and, after we meet at the city centre, take a short tram ride to the foot of Medvednica - a mountain that guards the city of Zagreb to the north.Leaving the city noise behind we will follow one of many hiking trails into the dense forests of beech, oak and chestnut.After around two hour hike up we reach its highest peak Sljeme at 1035 m. We will have a stunning view of Zagreb to the one side and Zagorje region to the other. Best way to be a local on Sljeme is by eating a traditional lunch of warm bean soup with sausages in the hut at the top.Once we are full and rested we will starts descending following a different trail which will take us to Medvedgrad - picturesque medieval castle on the southern slopes of Medvednica. Recently renewed castle is one of the most important historical landmarks of Zagreb and offers a stunning view over the city.We will return to the city centre by public bus driving through one of the most beautiful Zagreb's neighborhoods.
